Mr. Bancroft has had trouble with his
privet hedge. He has been unsuccessful
in transplanting full grown plants. Is there
any way in which it can be done. Mary Stabler
says the 'Fairfax Nursries [Nurseries] are one of the best
authorities on Privet in this country.
Mr Bancroft has also had trouble with his
currants and gooseberries. As soon awWs
they leaf out they are attacked by woolly
afids [aphids]. Dr. Nichols says spray with Pyrox
with a nicotin extract for any of the
various bugs and woms etc. except the
steely beetle - and nothing seems to faze them.
Pull up spindly asparagus instead of
cutting it off.
Move Goosberries [gooseberries] in the Spring.
As there is so much going on in the
neighbohood during the first week in each
month, Mr. A. G. Thomas recommended that
we change our day. This was approved by
a number of our members, but alas which
day could it meet. I have heard people say,
we should have another day in the week,
to enable me to "get around", but that poor day. This recommendaton of Mr. Thomas
was deferred to the next meeting, when a
note will be taken.
