Owing to the indisposition of Cousin Anne
Farquhar, the August meeting of the
Horticultural was held at Tanglewood
on the fifth of that month. Having had
snow and intense cold, rain, and again
rain, there was only heat left, and we
certainly had that at this meeting. However
one forgot it completly upon entering the
delightfully cool rooms at Tanglewood. A
goodly number of members were present
and several guests.
After the meeting had been called to
order by our President, the minutes were
read and adopted.
Cousin Ellen Farquhar, our first reader
was out of the neighborhood at this time.
Miss. Mary Gilpin read two articles -
The last of which delt with that question
so near to the hearts of the Horticultural -
Road-side advertizing. Public opinion
is against it, adn as that is what
the advertizins are playing for, they are,
in many instances, cooporating with
the opposition. Even in distant places
the fight is on, and in Honolulu, only
