Cousin Ellen plants them in clumps and
separates them after they have gotten a
good start.
Miss Mary Brooke asked what variety
of peas to plant, and such a long list was
given, that I think every Horticulturalist
must have a "favorate [favorite] Brand", Some of
those noted were: telephone, Greatest,
Champion of England, Extra Early, Henderson's
Juno, Thomas Laxton and Alaska. Mrs.
Bancroft also indorsed [endorsed] most heartily the
"Edible pod peas".
Our next meeting will be at
Rockland and Mrs. Davis and Cousin
Lillie Stabler will be our readers.
We then adjourned to view the
lawn and Garden. As we went out on
the lovely Norwood porch, made more
beautiful by the exibits [exhibits], we were reminding
of the saying, "all those who love nature,
she loves in return." Certainly our nature
loving Society was rewarded with a
perfect May day. Then passing the
wonderful tulip bed and entering
the Garden, I felt as if I had turned
another page in "Country Life in
