inch or so deeper than where taken up.
St. Regis (everbearing) is a good variety.
Protect with straw manure in the fall.
Should currant bushes be cut to the
ground after bearing? Cut only old wood
out.
Should the lawn at "Norwood" be plowed
or merely harrowed? A few advised plowing,
August is a good time for that. But others
thought more satisfactory just to harrow
where there are so many trees and thin
roots to contend with. If plowed up,
fertilize and sow grass-seed. Wood-ashes
are know to be excellent for all lawns
One way suggested for getting rid of
poison oak, is to put Kerosene on the roots.
Will an arbor-vitae tree half broken
down put out and be symmetrical
again? Very doubtful but most think
it will put up if cut down.
There was no way of telling what
was covered up under the snow
around the house and in the
garden at Cloverly as we had to
leave out the customary walk.
The places of meeting for 1924 are:
April Cloverly
