In counting the speciments there were
93 from the 10 families represented -- the
list was headed by Knowlton with 17 --
All the exhibits were splendid, & showed
such care in preparing them for the society.
'Tis hard to imagine the story which has
come to us from our sister state, Va.,
where some homes have hardly 'anything
from their gardens, they having almost
dried up for want of rain.

The flowers made a beautiful showing --
'twas hard to find accommodaation for
them all; do not let us forget that some
one has said "Flowers are the sweetest
things God ever made, & forgot to put a
soul into."

We were able to answer most of the questions
put to the meeting.

Corrie Brooke has been trying to get carrots
like those she ate in France, & this year
she has succeeded, she says they are
deliciously sweet.

Cousin Al was glad to report how active
little sparrows have been in his garden
picking off worms from the cabbage plants.
It is not too late to plant snap beans.
