Riverside

August 1st 1922.

For the third time this year, the Horticultural
had to change from its regular day for
meeting when it fell in July on the 4th, +
our host for that date was obliged to be in
Rockville at a celebration being held there.
So it was on the afternoon of the 11th that
quite a full membership + some guests
gathered on the lawn at Della Brooke + as
we sat there + conducted the exercises of
the meeting, our eyes feasted on the lovely
view of distant hills spread before us.

After the reading + adoption of minutes of
previous session, in the absence of Elizabeth
Davis
, Anna Farquhar read for her an article
on "Peach Leaf Cure", which it said can be
controlled by very thorough spraying before
the buds begin to swell. One can use either
commercial line sulphur (1 gal. to 50 gals.
of water) or if no scale is present, at least
2 lbs. of bluestone to 50 gals. of water.
Some growers add lime to this mixture to
show whether or not the spraying is being
done thoroughly, as the lime sticks to the
twigs.
