In sunshine this time the H.I. assembled at
Haviland's Mills July 21. Beautiful flowers from
Riverside, full lima beans, large onions and an immense
tomatoe - Sparks, Early Anna - from [?] were shown.

The mtg. was called to order by the Pres. and first set of
minutes read. A walk in the beautiful old garden
followed. Among other [?] was one filled with cucumber
tobacco plants, Cannas and Salvia. A fine prospect
for tomatoes and lima beans in the vegetable garden.
The peach tree is still bearing. The 2nd set of minutes
read, and excellent advice given from the forethought com.
the chairman of the Frank Lea Com. gave discouraging
report, he has had to stop his work among the colored
people, "as an assistant is not needed," where ignorance
is bliss was never more fully shown than here. The Com
was relieved from its duties. Mr. S. G. Miller was
appointed to write him a letter from this body
thanking him for the good he has done and our
appreciation of his faithful work in our neighborhood.
Alban G. Thomas reported that the
bell would ring from Sherwood soon. The Pres. of the
telephone Co gave notice that Central would be
open on Sunday from now on. Mrs. Moore gave an
