Notice was given that all members
bear in mind that the time for new books
in Book Club is near at hand & suggestions for
new books are desired. Also at the next
meeting the Com. can be revised if necessary.
Is it worthwhile to get a watch dog to
keep colored neighbors from walking thru your place
when they appropriate bchickens, sweet potatoes &c
on the way? And is it worth while to put
up a notice to keep off the place?
The latter would make it lawful to prosecute
if desired.
Advised to keep a dog with a ferocious
bark, whether he be a high blooded aristocratic
dog, or a low lived cur. Also put up
barbed wire fences & lock your gates, & shoot
out your windows at every [illegible] & at the first bark
of the dog. All these precautions combined
will make all neighbors, white & colored, thieving
or peaceable keep at a safe distance at unseasonable
home.
Rubber bands for fruit jars can be brought
at the rubber store. Balt. & Chase [illegible] by the
pound. 50 cts a pound - 130 or 135 in a lb.
