1st Question. When to pick Baldwin apples as they are falling and do not keep well, advised to pick and sell at once.
A guest has an Asparagus bed, kept clean and well manured, yet the growth is too spindling; It was thought that the roots are too thick, seed have been allowed to drop most probably, would either plow out the centre, or use this while he prepare another bed.
The Apple orchard again received attention, the opinion being about equally divided as to the benefit of Spring or Fall plowing, only do it, and manure heavily, with young trees plow close under, trees of older growth near as convenient.

The Chrysanthumum rests uneasily at this season so taken up massed together in a box they do better than singly, not drying out so soon.
Having some wheat which I should prefer not to sell now owing to low prices, yet having no where to stow it; Is it a legitimate business transaction to sell mine, and buy wheat stored in the Elevator?
Caused much discussion many thought it entirely correct to buy and pay for this wheat, allowing them to store for him. for a rise, being the same as any speculation, as buying any animal whose increase in might would make it more valuable, but the buying

of futures is gambling: Still a care is needed in the first case "that we be not stumbling block unto a brother".
Celery is looking badly, frequent watering does not seem to have effect owing to the extreme dry ness.
How can I destroy the rat pest, which infects house, barn. etc. with such boldness; all poisons serve only a time, or to drive them to our neighbors; A ferret and terrier to go the round of the neighborhood, is the durable plan.
The mouse too likes a visit to the pantry of one tin, glass, etc has but little effect, advised to wainscot with flooring entire, and teach the careless servant to close the door, tho even if they enter thus they can be somewhat controlled.
Susan L. Thomas now read an excellant article. "Trice Happiness", a goal not so easily attained, yet we have the power within us to make or mar this peace.

238th Meeting Lucknaugh 10-3-92
The friends gathering seemed much attracted by the brown nut rustling through the leaves on the lawn, and tempted several to linger to fill the bag & pocket. one guest said this was her first experience at nut gathering and seemed fascinated. The minutes were read after call to order and adopted. The call for questions seemed to find a dirth of want to know or an abundance of knowledge one. After tea which was much enjoyed, Albino O Stabler read an article, "Concession in life". full of good advice and much if attended to that will fulfill the Golden rule.
Dr. Thomas read to us of the "Worlds old age" very interesting.
1st Question - When to pick apples for keeping? A diversity of opinion, especially as there seem to few keeping qualities among them this year, that it is hard to decide.

Will a cannery in this locality pay?
Fruit put up here in small quanities has been much sought after, but on a larger scale not thought practicable, as the growth of tomatoes etc impoverishes the ground, and sale is uncertain
To ripen tomatoes off the vines, several plans given pull the vine and throw in heap. will thus stand much cold, also gather the fruit and bring in cellar or room.
Dr. Thomas then read about the coming railroad, giving to the minds eye a pleasant picture to say the least of the Electric Motor traversing our pike.
