in social circles that were in vogue during
our parents youth are outgrown by the
world at large, and conseqently by us.
While every thing around is progressing
we cannot expect to hold back our children.
Times have really much improved.
Temperance has taken such a strong
hold and this in its true sense, means
Moderation in all things.

"Each age must to itself be true,
nor slow to guide the future too.
If these our children seek a way
not common in their parents day
Let us not fail to see the point
nor think the times are out of joint.
If loving, truthful, honest, pure,
All forms of meanness they abjure
We will they lead their newer ways
Not yet again for other days ."
