113 11thMo 25th 1876 The Enterprise Club met at Arthur Stablers the absentees were Joseph L Moore and Saml Hopkins Edward P Thomas was appointed foreman, and Wm S Brooke Secretary pro tem The minutes of the last meting at this place not being on hand, we started out for a very brief inspection of the premises After examineing the stock in the barn and finding it in a very satisfactory condition, owing to the cold weather and not to any lack of interest in our hosts well ordered farm, we returned to the cheerful open fire in the sitting room. When the minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted, the following questions were asked and answered. 1st A member wishes to know the dimensions of cow stalls where stanchions were used ? The regular size sumed to be 3 ft 4in wide by 4ft 8in from feed bon to edge of trough 2nd How to keep roots for seed ? Parsnips, and Salsify are better left in the ground where they grow, beets turnips and carrots should be buried without cutting the tops off. 3rd How should I rent a dairy farm ? Referred to our next meeting 4th What is it worth to dig up old peach trees ? five cents apiece 5th What does the Club think as member's

115 Dec 30th 1876 Enterprise Club met at Asa M Stablers all members present but Wm S Bond Beautiful sleighing cold, and clear, weather after reading the minutes of last year, went out to inspect the premises, The pig pen was in good condition, then proceeding to barnyard where we found a number of cows in good order and two very fine oxon and one Durham bull; about 50 ewes doing well, but wasting too much hay, a rather novel way was observed for feeding lambs to themselves We then returned to House read minutes of last meeting, and appointed E P Thomas by ananimous consent to write, and read, at farmers convention an article in behalf of Enterprise Club
The question about renting a dairy farm having been reffered from our last meeting was taken up, and the following answers were given 6 members thought the tenant should have 1/3 of the proceeds, and 10 thought 1/4 would pay him well.
Is it adviseable to use plaster in stables ? Answer it was thought adviseable
What difference in wood, and coal burnt lime for agricultural purpose ? Answer no difference
Is it best to cover Strawberry beds at this season of year ?

What is the best use to make of wood ashes ? Ans Generally in favor of putting in compost heap, after being used for soap

What can Robert M Stabler pay for one of W J Scofields best Jersey Calves ? Ans from 25 to 50 dollars
