We killed our "turkey gobbler". which had become too "saucy" & pugnacious. This has been a very blustering cold day. After supper Edward went (with the young people from next door) over to Mrs. Ellicott's to spend the evening. Mrs. Robison came in for the news papers.

Peirce's horse "Sally" to Jas Henderson's cart & hauled ice all afternoon: they succeeded in getting 18 cart loads between them into our ice house, which took all there was on the pond it was only about 2 inches thick but was good clear ice. Bro Chas called after dinner. About noon the wind changed to N.W & we had a snow storm for about an hour, when it cleared off cold again. After tea W. went back to "Fairfield". Aug.
