Ther. 30° Wednesday JAN. 3^d 1894

Edwd was up & off to attend to the fires
at "Sherwood" early this morning - coming
home to breakfast & to feed the horse.
Mrs: Ent sent a colored boy with a note
for medicine & advice for "Henry".
Cousin Hannah Chandlee came to spend the
day with us. Bro: Richard called on his way
from meeting. Afternoon Miss Mary Colt
called for advice & medicine & took Cousin
Hannah Chandlee home with her
I gave Mrs Robison 50 cents to pay the
boys for a days work cutting wood at
the woodpile, they are to work 9 hours
dividing the time as suits them best
so that they keep us supplied with wood.
Dora went with Edwd again down to
the school house to see to the fires.

Ther. 37° Thursday 4th

Cloudy & dull, damp & threatning.
Dora went up to the insurance office
to help them. "John" came & drove me
down to Ashton, they having sent for
me to go & prescribe for H. Ent. I went
into the store & bought some medicine,
groceries &c, "John" was here until after
dinner. Dora came home at 4.30 p.m with
a wretched headache. Fanny Peirce was here
for advice & medicine for her father, who I
fear is a "sick man." having a bad attack of
"la grippe," with some unfavourable symptoms. If
the weather will permit, I must see him tomorrow.
After supper "Phil" & "Frank" went with Edwd:
down to Sherwood to see after the fires.

Ther. 35° Friday JAN 5^th 1894 S.E.Wind.

Dark rainy disagreeable morning.
Dora seems much better, and went up
to the insurance office again. Fanny
Peirce was here to say her father is
"much better" today: which relieves me from
feeling as if I should have driven up to see
him, which would not be prudent in the rain.
Afternoon D^r Brooke called & sat with me
an hour or so. The weather cleared off
towards evening.

Ernest Budd was here to see me.
"Ents" sent up for me & I drove down to
see him: also went into the store for
some medicines &c. Edwd went with
me to Ashton. "John" was here after
I returned from Ashton. Afternoon
Edwd went to "Cloverly" to take his music
lesson. I walked up to the mill
for the papers.
