Clear. Ther 18o SAT. APRIL 4th 1893 Wind N.W.

A sudden change in weather. It is cold to day with high N.W. wind blowing. I walked to Ashton to Mr. C M Colts, he came back with me for medicine &c. Rachael Cash paid me $2.00 (on acct) at Ashton stopping me on the road to do so. Mr Colt's little boy is a very sick child, but fortunately they have a Miss E. Lee (an intimate friend of the family) who is an experienced "trained nurse", & has kindly come to take care of the little fellow which is everything, almost in his favor, it is a great relief to my mind. After supper I walked up to the store. "Gus" Hopkins was here & paid me his bill.

Cloudy & Snow Ther. 32° Sat. Feb. 11, 1893 S.W. Wind

The ground was covered with snow this morning 3 or 4 inches deep, but it was a "wet snow" that adhered to everything upon which it fell. We moved the Franklin stove out from the chimney & cleaned it out and burned out the chimnies; both the one at the east end of the house and the kitchen chimney, the latter burned furiously for a long time though both needed "burning out." I drove down to Ashton to see Mr. Colt's little boy, who is so much improved that I will not see him again unless sent for. Afternoon, I rode over to Fletcher Clarks to fix Edw's piano key again. "Phil" went with me to Ashton this morning and helped us about burning the chimnies, as did also "Frank" or "Pole." Mr Colt called in the evening for medicine for himself and his little boy. I called at the store at Ashton this morning & got writing paper with printed heading, and medicine.

Still dull & cloudy. Charley Ida & the baby and Miss Gertrude Mathews arrived from "Lincoln" Va; having come to Rockville via Rockville. having hired a team to drive them over, reaching here about 1 o'clock p.m. Ernest Boswell was here & had a tooth extracted.
