Clear Ther. 30^o Tues. Jan. 1, 1889 Wea.

Willie came home from the party at "Walnut Hill" at 12_45 this a.m. Jno Thomas (of Clifton) called and we settled our accounts in full to date. Willie drove "Fritz" over to Cincinnati and brought cousin Hannah Archer home with him. Charley and Dr Leonard returned from the Griffith's before dinner. Afternoon I drove over to see cousin Mary Chandlee & call at Ashton on my way home. Edwd & Sophie Peirce called in the afternoon. Miss M Fowler was in to see me about Mrs Robison who is quite unwell After dark C & Dr Leonard drove over to Mrs Sally Elliott's & Willie walked home with Cousin Hannah Archer.

Clear Ther. 31^o Wednesday 2^d Wind N.W.

Dr. D O Leonard Charleys friend from S C left in the stage for Laurel and Balto after having spent the "Holidays" with us. Charley took Hannah Archer home. Arthur Stabler called to settle his account. R Roland Moore called for advice & medicine for his wife. Afternoon I drove over and prescribed again for Jno Thomas. Called at Ashton & had my old medicine trunk repaired at Gus Bulwars. Edwd commenced going to school again, after the "holidays"

Clear. S.E. Ther. 32^o Thurs. Jan 3^rd 1889

Heavy white frost this morning Old Caleb Pumphrey was here to see C Charley drove over to Riverside and to see Jno Thomas also to see and prescribe for Harriety Ann Dorsey and open an abcess in her mouth. Afternoon I drove over to R.R. Moore's Jr. and prescribed for Mrs. Moore. Bro Chas & his son Fred took tea with us. Mr. Benj Palmer called to see me as "Trustee of the S.S. Public School in reference to obtaining the schoool house as a lunch room for the Farmers convention of Montgomery Co. I went with him up to the mill to consult with Mr. J.T. Henderson & also over to see Mr. S. Scofield. Willie came home from Thos Lea's before supper time.

Clear & Cloudy Ther. 32^o Friday 4^th. Wind S.E.

Another heavy white frost this morning. I drove over to "Homewood" and prescribed again for cousin Mary Chandlee. Willie going with me. We call at Ashton. Charley went to Jno M Smith's and to Rockland to see about getting some hay. Roland Moore's team brought us a cord of sawed oak wood. Eliza Green & Annie Snowden were here for advice & medicine. After dark Charley was called to Jno M Smith's to prescribe again for "purvis" folks. W. drove to Mechanicsville to a Good Templar's Lodge meeting taking Charley Owings with him. Driving Old "Fritz" to my buggy the poor old faithful fellow had to be helped up onto his feet this morning and I was lothe to have him driven this evening but did not like to refuse as he seemed to be "all right" after he was once upon his feet again. It was very dark and cloudy.

Rain Rain Ther. 35^o Sat. Jan. 5, 1889 Wind N.E.

Commenced raining last night and continued throughout the day with a very high wind. C. drove to Jno M. Smith's again to prescribe for Purvis & Phillips people they were here after him before daylight. he came home past Homewood to enquire after cousin Mary Chandlee Willie went with him they called at Martha Lea's. Ned Hill was here for advice and medicine forhis old syphiletic affection gave him Ungt Hydg Oxgd Rub

Cloudy Ther. 40^o Sunday 6^th Wind Variable

John Bowen was here before we were up After breakfast I drove over to Martha Lea's and prescribed for H. Archer & walked across to Homewood to see cousin Mary Chandlee whilst Charley drove to Jno M. Smith's calling for me on his return. We came to Asthon & I went down to see Mary Bowen & C went to Jno Thomas' Afternoon C went again to Jno Smith's calling at Homewood on his return to bring EdithReizner to Chas Stabler's.
