Sandy Spring 12 mo 29. Dear Anna We thought mother was dying from 1/2 past 1 6th day morning, until 7: when she revived considerably, and is living still, though very low. We have sent word to Sarah Stone, asking her to come over this afternoon, and we shall ask her to stay all night with us, unless mother rallies again. She is now asleep and looks exactly like a corpse. Mary would rather have S. Stone here than anyone else when the event does occur. Mother has seemed anxious to be released the last few days; she says no one need to die of old age. The Dr says her system is quite worn out and that she is literally dying from old age.

Thomas and Frank had a very cold ride up in a slay, I think they came up in about 2 hours. F seems quite well, Thomas is suffering from a bad headache caused probably by the cold. Tell Sammie that Henry Miller sent us a very fine turkey for our Christmas dinner. He said as his turkeys had roamed over our place so much, the least he could do was to give us one for our Christmas dinner. We were sorry that his friend Sammie and some of the rest of you could not have been here to help eat it. Henry does not like being at Swarthmore half so well as being at home.
Thee asked for C E Bonds direction. I sent it :the NW stands for north west.

afternoon 2 oclock.
I am glad Mr Ahrens' Christmass present was one that will help you along a little, and obliged to thee, for what thee sent to us. There is very little change in Mother, she lays and sleeps most of her time, when she awakes is rational, but extremely weak.
I will not write again until a change occurs.
with our love to you I conclude Esther Wetherald
