My Dear Children: It seems already quite like an age - since I left you - we are at Columbus - since 7th day morn. & nothing preventing expect Leore here on 5th day evening - 20th inst for Chica
I hope you are "attending" to business - I have paid the insurance. I left home very reluctantly - not withstanding I have had a more pleasant visit - to my relatives than ever before - yet every [?] miles I travel convinces me that I was not able in Purse for this
I hope Grant will be a good boy & be ready to come west when I want

trip - J had only ten $ left towards his [?] - How much balance do you owe him on the Horse -? I sincerely trust you are not going to keep Horses enough - to eat up all the corn - I ought to sell - to help pay our debts- Our tickets - were bought to go by the Chicago fast Express - & any deviation from that line- Costsus extra- Our visit here will cost seven $. & I have to advance it - I will be obliged to pay for each of us - from Chicago.

days. It is no clearing up & is as warm as spring. My dear sons - I hope you will be particular about both leaving home at the same time. Remember your sister & you will in some measure be responsible for her & dont forget that Our Father is congnizant of all we do, whether of man or beast or boy. Dont abuse the boy & if I should never see you again act as if god was looking at you always. dont disappoint me in hearing from you. & don't forget Walter - love to all Mother
