Boston, Mass.
Aug. 26, 1908.
My dear mother,--
Complying to thy request of recent
data, regarding the exchange of frames on
thy spectacles, will say that I have to-day gotten
for thee, two pairs of spectacles complete.
The lenses alone cost 10 cts. each, and to take them out of thy old frames would have made the
frames worthless, so I am returning thy old ones
with the new. Thee will also find enclosed the
bill for same, which I send, so that thee can see
how little they cost, and not feel unduly obliged.
The frames are warranted to wear 10 years, in
constant use, so the two pair should wear 20.
I hope that I may have the pleasure of buying at least two pair more, when these havegiven out.
There is nothing special to write about. Thy last letter was very nice, and enjoyed reading it as I do all with which thee favors me. Am glad
to hear that Charlie is meeting witih success in
his new occupation, and hope that he wil lcontinue
to do so. I feel a little anxiety for fear he
will sing to them, and loose his popularity.
There is a rumor hereof which if it takes effect
will necessitate my going South within a month, in
which case, I will try to stop off for a day or two
twoand see youon the way, otherwise I see no
prospect or possibility of my having a vacation
but whether I come or not, I will always remain
thy affectionate son,
