COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE

Referred to Street Committee with power to act.
Petition of August Melhorne praying that his Road
Poll Tax of $4.00 for the year 1885 be refunded to him he
being an active member of the Fire Department.
On motion the petition is granted and the Clerk
directed to draw a warrant on the City Fund in favor
of the said Aug Melhorne for the sum of four(4) dollars.
Petition of Lawrence & Calt et al asking that an Or-
dinance be passed making it a misdemeanor for
any person to deposit coal and wood ashes in any
wooden vessel on or within not less that fifteen
feet of any wood work attached to any building with
in the City Limits. Granted and the City Attorney
directed to draw up and submit such an ordinance
Reports
the Report of the Park Commissioners was received and
read showing that the work contracted to be done in
imporving Seattle Park has be completed toand in-
spected by the Commissioner and found to have been
done in a satisfactory manner save and excepting the item of seeding which could not be done during
the present season; and recommending that J W
Hunter
assigner of tehContractor W H Hanscom be paid
the sum of Two Hundred and Sixty five (265) dollars
be paid on account reserving the sum of ten(10) dollars
to be paid when the seeding was done as provided in the contract
that Whitworth & Thompson be paid the sumof $9 for surveying
that J B Metcalfe be paid the sum of $2.50 expended for carriage
hire and that the Post Intelligencer be paid the sum
of $3.00 for advertising. Report adopted and ordered filed and
the Clerk directed to issue warrants in the Cemetary
fund in favor of J W Hunter for the sum of $265; in
favor of Whitworth & Thompson for $9.00; in favor of J B Metcalf for
$2.50 and in favor of thePost Intelligencer Pub Co for $3.00
