To the Hon. the Mayor & City Council of the city
of Seattle, King County, Wash.
Gentlemen: For petitioner would respectfully
show-
That I have resided on Lots 1 and 4 Block
87 Terrys 2nd Addition for more than two years
last past That there has never beena sewer
with which I could connect said residence
nearer that the center of James Street a
distance of over four hundred feet- (said
residence being on the South east corner of Tenth
and Jefferson Streets)
That in the early part of June last a cut
of about 5 feet made by the grade of Jefferson
St neat petitioners lots rendered the cesspool
thereon a nuisance endangering the health of
of the neighborhoods by reason of a constant
seepage of filth into the street.
Taht you petitioner was compelled to build
and did build in said month of June a sewer
from said premises to and connecting with James
St Sewer a distance of 406 feet at a cost of
$243.60
That it seems manifestly unjust that your
petitioner should bear said expense and
therefore prays that said said expense and
therefore prays that said sum be paid to him
by the City or so much thereof as may seem
to your honorable body just & Proper
And your Petitioner will ever pray etc.
