To the Honorable Mayor and
Council of the City

Gentlemen:
Trinity Church corpo-
ration owning the four lots on the
west side of Eighth Street between
James and Cherry, respectfully
presents this protest to the building
of a bridge in front of said lots,
and also to any change of grade
injurious to said property. These
lots were bought with the intention
of building upon them a large and
fine stone or brick church, costing
more money than any like struc-
ture in the city.

A bridge
which at all times would be dirty,
unsightly and disagreeable, a sore,
festering spot to the entire neighborhood,
narrowing the street and increasing
the insurance, would materially
lessen the value of the lots, and
would be of untold injury to the
church contemplated.

We
therefore request that you refrain
from changing the grade and
from building the bridge referred
