Seattle Wash June 10 1889
To the Honorable Mayor & Council of Seattle Washington
Gentlemen
the alley west of Front St and
running south to Marion St from Union St is impas-
ible for teams between University St and Marion St
because of debris and portions of plankway being hung
The local Steamers and ocean Steamers
land between University St and Union St and wharves
immediatly north of Union St. All passengers and
trucks with goods have to climb a steep grade at
foot od Union St to get on Front St trucks canonly
haul very small loads, the hill being at an angle
of about 45[degrees]
Your petitioners pray that the alley
be immediately repaired from University St to
Madison or Marion to accomodate the immense
[amount of business] for which this alley is required.
