Columbia City Wash October 6th 1897
Regular adjourned session of the Town
Council met at 8 o'clock PM called to order
by the Mayor.
Minutes of previous session read and
with one correction, same was approved.
Report of Special Committee Osgood that old
County Road Bridge was in need of repairs,
accepted and the committee discharged.
Motion was made to instruct the Street
Committee to prepare specifications of bridge
repairs and report the same to the Mayor
who shall then advertise for sealed bids
for such repairs, by posting said call for
bids as provided by ordinance for posting
ordinances and other notices. Carried.
Ordinance establishing a Current Expense
Fund and an Indebtedness Fund, read
and the statute relating thereto examined.
clerk then reported outstanding warrant
indebtedness as follows:
General Fund 1914.00
Water Fund 844.50
Interest on above Fund 250.00
Total 3008.50
and the following estimate of expenses for
the year 1898 made and approved.
Salaries 200.00
Street Repairs 360.00
Sundries 175.00
Total 725.00
The above report and estimate passed by a
majority vote of the Council and on motion
the above ordinance was adopted and read.
Ordinance fixing the tax levy for the year
1897 at six mills for Current Expense Fund,
and six mills for Indebtedness Fund
making twelve mills on each dollar's valuation
of taxabbl property, read and approved
by regular motion.
Motion was then made to instruct the City
Attorney to draw up an ordinance amending
Ordinance No 1 entitled An Ordinance providing
for the posting of ordinances. Carried
On motion meeting adjourned.
