1903 Wednesday 8 April Got underweigh as soon as the breeze came in and proceeded to Matupi Met Capt Dunphy as we were stanting [sic] with the divers Keroki and J Juan also Kitchell coming over in the Dinghy the Chloe having arrived from the Solomons the night before. Received letters from Oien and learned from Dunphy that all was going well at the Solomons. Anchored at Matupi early in the afternoon. found J Rickmon on the Chloe.
Thursday 9 April At anchor Matupi waiting for the Tanglin
Friday 10 April Tanglin in with the Brisbane mail. Paid of [sic] the two divers and Kitchell from the Solomons
Saturday 11 April John Juan and Keroki signed a fresh agreement for 12 months to come back after 3 to 6 months spell at Singapore Gave them order through Mess' Hernshiem & Co's Agent Singapore for Advance & return passage also gave them a commission to select 6 Boatmen and two divers if procurable

1903 Sunday 12 April At anchor Matupi Tanglin left
Monday 13 April At anchor Matupi Dunphy getting Chloe ready for going to North West coast of New Pommern Carpenters at work on Chloes rail No work at Station on account of holiday Easter Monday
Tuesday 14 April Canomie at anchor Matupi Dunphy putting pump and gear on board the Chloe and transferring stores from Nippon having previously put stores and trade on board of her with the intention of making a short recruiting voyage It was decided that he should go direct to work on the base when Willie Fiji arrived by the Gazelle as I had arranged with Messr Hernsheim & Co for the necessary labour to be returned later on or replaced by new ones recruited Intended to have sent Wohler's with Dunphy recruiting. but as he began to abuse the boys breaking the head of one with slingshots of[sic=off] Dinghy decided to have nothing more to do with him paid him off

1903 Wednesday 15 April Canomie at anchor Matupi Self busy finishing returns for Mr Wolff and getting Queensland Mail ready Dunphy cleaning the spare pumps and getting Chloe ready
Thursday 16 April Stettin at Herbertshohe with the Governor on board Got letters from the Admiralties by her via Berlin Haven [Berlin-Hafen]. Learned from Mr Wahlen who came by her that the Gazelle could not be here before the 28 inst 18 cases MOP shell on the Stettin per Gazelle from Komali via Berlin Haven. Busy with the outgoing mail Dunphy looking after other vessels and pumps and getting Chloe ready. Möwe came back from Herbertshohe and Cape Gazelle where she had been surveying No divers by the Stettin

1903 Friday 17 April Stettin came over from Herbertshohe in the morning. Busy with the mail etc.
Saturday 18 April Stettin taking in Copra to sail from Matupi first thing on the Morning calling at Herbertshohe only for mails Paid off Johnny Richmond sending him back by the Stettin via Brisbane with order on the Secretary for his wages the balance to be sent to his mother after paying his passage to Townsville Got case Turtle shell packed and shipped along with the MOP shell
Sunday 19 April Stettin left Matupi 8. am Went over with her to Herbertshohe Mr Hamilton left by her for Brisbane Johnny Richmond also on board Stettin went on from Herbertshohe without anchoring Dunphy brought our Canomie to Herbertshohe arriving there in the afternoon Jack brought the Nippon to be measured

31 Log of Canomie Herbertshohe 1903 Monday 20 April Mr Wolff on board in the forenoon gave him the particulars required for the firms book and arranged to meet him in a few days to get agreement signed Mr Voigt came off and measured Nippon. he also measured the Canomie again having lost the paper with previous measurements No of recruits allowed 52 Noon. Nippon left for Matupi with Dunphy Having further business to transact Remained at anchor with the Canomie. Afternoon wet
Tuesday 21 April 4 am got underweigh and proceeded towards Matupi with the land breeze. Which however only took us about half way Calm during the early part of forenoon then light breeze from the North - led in to Matupi harbour and anchored 11.30
Wednesday 22 April At anchor Matupi Dunphy getting ready for a start. Finding that he was only taking two months ration made him take another months so that he would not require to come in should I be delayed in getting to him Wrote him letter of instructions Sent for Mr Wolff to discuss matters about the Admiralties
