18th. Monday. School. Feel lazy : went up to William G's tonight. Had nice time too. Dulcie Scott there & Miss Davidson (Maud) we three together thought of old times at school. 19th. Tuesday. Practised up Johnny get your Gun this afternoon. They took away the piano to the Hall for the Band of Hope so our lesson had have to [...] over. Full house tonight. The girls sang badly & Mr. Button was shocked at our song. The young toads didn't sing out half enough. 20th. Wednesday. Mr. & Mrs. Ellison went home this morning. They are very anxious to see me "off". Wrote to B. tonight. 21st. Thursday. Had to give all the extra lessons today. Got letter from Curtis wanting to name a price - any price for my allotment. They the one who wants to buy has a price for the 3 allots. & the block & wants mine so I just wrote straight back - £35 - he can take that or leave it. Jim must be selling his - silly thing. We 2 left tonight without a chaperon. Pa & Ma both away. 22nd. Friday. Mr. & Mrs. away still. Went over to the Office this morning & posted my letters. 23rd. Saturday. Lessons - music. Kate Tom & I had nice ride this afternoon. Mr & Mrs came back last night. It wouldn't have done to leave D. & I alone like this - but what high times we'd have had but they never left us any chance. Parcel of oranges & lemons from Ma so she must be home. 24th. Sunday. Church twice. Revd. Castleton preached this morning. Nice sermon too. I played both times 25th. Monday. They sent me a complimentary ticket & letter of thanks for the Concert 26th. Tuesday. Two men from Kolan were here to dinner today. Last night Mr. Curtis & Mr. O'Connell came & stayed all night. Heard something. Said Mr. C. "How's Dave getting along. He was at our house the other night but I couldn't get a chance of speaking to him. He was so busy flirting - he's a great flirt" So ~ my surmises were not incorrect. I'm not easily deceived. They both went out to a meeting at Kolan. 27th. Wednesday. They went off this morning. Mrs. Boreham & the boy came up last night. Got up with sore throat yesterday morning & sneezing all today. 28th. Thursday. Two more visitors arrived tonight. Mrs. Warry from Maryboro. & a lady from Melbourne - a Miss Collie - a fine looking girl. I had a horrid day for cold in head. Must have got it from Kate or from having my window open the other night. Wrote to Ma. Do wish I haven't to play tomorrow night Anyway Mrs. W. is coming up & she can do. 29th. Friday. Fearful head all day. Mrs W. came & we played a Duet for the opening. May & Annie played "Bobbie Dundee" - & well too. Blackie & Miss Greathead & her brother - Miss La Fontaine & a man to play the dance music all came from town. I only played for Miss G. As far as I was concerned I might have stayed home. I only played 2 accompts. Wasn't sorry tho'. They had a farce after - a silly thing & then finished up with the Dance. We stayed to watch 2 or 3 & then came home. 30th Saturday. Lessons this morning. Heard something more. Mrs. W. said D. was a great lady's man (to Mrs. Warry) Last night he was to drive 4 girls out to Windermere. So - my surmises correct again. He[underlined] wasn't going into any society - not he - he[underlined] wasn't going to have anything to do with any girls down there. Fickle! as I told him. Well he needn't expect to have any more of me. He came up tonight. As Mrs. W. & I passed through to go "outside" I spoke to him then back to the drawing roon. He went to the Lecture by Mr. Pound in the Hall. Offended with me I suppose because I didn't fuss over him. I didn't intend to see him much - was going to bed. No more of that for me. Mrs. B. went home today 1st. May Sunday. His[underlined] birthday too. He didn't even say Good morning to me. I talked to him tho'. Went to church. Played. After dinner I went to bed Mrs. W. & D. drove down about 3. I didn't know they were going so soon. Told Mrs. to say Goodbye to him for me - he called out from the dining room. He is not a bit the same as he was last time. Don't know if he is offended with me for last

night. Can't help it. Must be done. Do wish he'd stay away & not come here to disturb my place. Have had a wretched time. was quite glad when he went. I know I'll keep out of his way as much as possible for the future if he's going to be so nasty. but I mustn't be unchristian. Who when he [...] reacted reviled not again - Must be like my Maker. Lord help me not to hear any malice or ill will. But it's hard when one's kind overtures are thrown back again . He couldn't even condescend to wear a nice little bouquet I picked for him. Took it to pieces & only wore 1 flower 2nd. Monday. They went away this morning. I like Miss M. Collie. Feel quite relieved after so miserable a day yesterday. I'll go to town next time I know he's coming up - if possible An event today. Tom W. was riding Kate's mare barebacked at school - & recklessly as usual he fell & rolled on his leg. Mr. Martin brought him home in his buggy - they didn't know or were not sure that his leg was broken or not - decided to take him to town - so W. drove him in the bottom of the buggy pillowed up & Mrs. G. went too. They most likely will leave him at Wilde's or the Hospital. Polly & I & the 2 girls were left for the night. Poor Tom - he was in pain & very subdued. What a mercy the same didn't happen to me that time at Colanne. I told Kate. 3rd. Tuesday. W. came home about 1/2-12 last night. 2-? can't tell yet whether the leg's broken or not - Mrs. G. is bringing him home tonight - strange. Have been thinking about Tom all day. We 2 seem to be left a good deal to each other & society of late. D. & I wouldn't have been left alone like that. Shows they can trust him[underlined]. 4th. Wednesday. Mrs. G. came home with Tom last night Dr. T. says the small bone of the leg is fractured. It will mean 3 weeks in bed for Tom - active Tom - Letters from Ma & H. W. - evidently thinks the same as ever of me. Poor old chap. I feel tempted to [...] reward his faithfulness. Mr. Ellison had service tonight but I went not too tired. Have had Harold & Leslie together this week. 5th. Friday. Blowing horribly cold all day. nearly frozen. Were going with the girls to the Falls tomorrow but as I heard W. saying something to Mrs. Stirling about going to town tomorrow I asked to go too so it was decided tonight that he was going & coming back Sunday. 7th. Saturday. Up at daylight this morning & gave clarinet lesson before breakfast - Norman after - Mrs. G. going to town too so I didn't know whether to go by train or by the buggy but as he wished me to come with him - he was leaving before dinner - so we went down together - in an hour & 20 min. - at 12 o'clock - Gave Ma a shock. We went down shopping all afternoon - got myself 2 blouses & a new black skirt - little hat - got good cloak at Cullinane's - brown with fur 35/- had some singing after tea. Wonder if he[underlined] knows I'm here - must have seen me today - we were at the Barracks - quite near the Dairy - 8th. Sunday. Horrid day. Hardly any sleep all night - tried everything but still felt half choked - sick as could be since early this morning - couldn't keep a thing on my stomach - didn't think I could come away - got dressed somehow & sent Ivy & Alf to tell him to come round but after waiting till nearly 11 couldn't wait any longer so Ma & I walked along & up he came - he had passed up town & they didn't see him. We reached home fast at dinner felt so miserable all along but not so bad as before - managed to keep a mouthful of coffee down - must have either the fever - or else what the children had - or else a fresh cold & chill. They said something was wrong I was such a bad colour 9th. Monday. Sick all day & tight too. Nasty day - rain & cold. Mabel Davidson Jean S. & Jim Walker were here for tea. Wished noone had come but we had not such a bad time after all. Played bagatelle.

I might have had today too but then would have had to give Saturday instead. Lovely day & not cold.
