Took good dose of castor-oil this morning & stayed in bed till 11. Mr. Ellison preaching today - Feel better but weak - I needed[underlined] that dose badly - if this old shortness of breath would only go away I'd feel alright. Very hot to day 4th. Monday ~ Nasty day. Feel no better only weaker ~ took Katie after school & he studied me &c. said I must get a linseed poultice on at once & stay in bed to-morrow - Said I looked bad & it was bronchitis consequent on my system being run down - 5th. Tuesday. In bed nearly all day.- my poultice last night not much - too cool - I got up a while but he came & ordered me back to bed with more poultices - Miss S. down so I told her to tell Mrs. W. if she was at liberty that I'd like her to come & put them on which she did ..- from 2 o'clock till nearly 6 - she was awfully kind - I'd 4-5 on front - 2 back - Don't suppose they'll make any difference - I'm an obstinate case - Supper finished & Mr. W. came again about 1/2-8. Seemed quite pleased that I had the poultices - said he gave the order but didn't know whoever was going to carry it out as Mrs. W. has been a friend in need. Says I must be in tomorrow too - 6th. Saturday. Up good bit to-day - spent time in the drawing room blowing all day so I couldn't stir out - even to take a mouthful of air - Mrs. John came to see me this afternoon - & seemed to quite take up the idea of Dr. W. teaching the children - also about my going to Watana - said if all was right there I had better go on Tuesday & come back Sat. but M. says Mrs. W. might go up to[sic] & we could stay till Monday - Miss S. is to go with me - Mrs. Payne & Mrs Britten the W.C.T.U. women came up this afternoon - 10th. Saturday. Another wretched night - worse than the last - to improve matters discovered that my cigarettes were all finished so had to wake Miss S. up early to open the letter she had written to Mrs. W. & ask her to look in my box for the packet & bring them up - felt abominable all morning - want of sleep these 3 nights I suppose.
