tennis court fixed up - it's very nice ~ a Mr. Power from town came up & is to stay
over to-morrow. Don't like him - he is very much gone on Miss Nmn. she does
go on in a silly way with him. Miss S. was also asked & came into my room this afternoon
& would stay ~ guess they blamed me for keeping her but noone asked me to come
out & she wouldn't go out. Mrs. W. came in & talked too so altogether I felt all right
Had company at night. I have to play all accompaniments at the concert next
Friday. Wish not but can't help it. Mrs. W. & I are going to play a duet.
8th. Sunday. Church morning. Mr. Morris preached ~ full church. Went not out

pairs went for a walk & didn't come back till after 6.
9th. Monday. Mrs. J.G. came to the school this morning to see whether I'd take
the 2 boys - Becker's ~ & Norman ~ T'will mean my poor little Saturday
broken into for half the day but can't help it - anything to earn a little
more. Dear knows when I'll get into town now. Miss N. went over to Mrs.
J's to stay today. Miss S. went for a ride this morning & at dinner time said She had heard something about me but I didn't ask her what.
10th. Tuesday. We were asked up to Wilde's to night to tea & spend the evening -
Mrs. W.'s birthday. Ray didn't come till nearly 1/2-5 for his lesson so it was
6 when I got home & had to dress then ~ raced up in time for tea - they
sent word down that they wouldn't commence without me. Enjoyed it except the
last bit ~ He[underlined] asked me on the quiet to come & have a game of Crib. inside with
them. A. G. & Mr. Martin - don't think elle l'aima. After tea Miss S. astonished
me (she told me after dinner she had a question to ask me would I
mind) by asking me point blank was I going to be her cousin - I really didn't
think she meant that at first as I didn't know anyone knew or guessed a
thing about it how W. got to know I can't tell - anyway I hastened to free
her mind of that delusion she wanted to know why not as I told her - age -
11th. Wednesday. Had yarn with Miss S. to-day - she seems to have taken a
fancy or I imagine so - to me - there's something about her I like - she
is a lot like our Arthur in her ways too - She said tonight talking about
B. I can get him back for you - he was is such[underlined] a nice boy - I thanked her -
I want no more "boys". Would he had been more of a suitable age - it would have
made all the difference in the world - Well he's gone now - can't be helped -
