Jan 19 ... After many weeks painful
illness Mr Jarrott is now safely resting
with God ... He was one of my esteemed
friends; of decided religious character
not to be moved from the Hope of the
Gospels, a valueable [sic] class leader, as
such I for a long time knew him
and had the privilege of listening
to his wise counsels. I hope to meet
him again in a more perfect life ...
I am sorry I cannot be present to-
night to hear his funeral Sermon.
Last Friday visited Sarah and
stayed all night. It is so plea-
sant to visit one's children and
feel affection reciprocated.

21st Feb. ... Spent a pleasant week
with Hannah Mary. Her children are
all so gentle and amiable ... Sarah called
in often ... affectionate and kind as
usual. Called one evening on
