Colonial Secretary's Correspondence

About

Colonial Secretary's Correspondence

State Library of Queensland has digitised the Colonial Secretary's letters received relating to Moreton Bay and Queensland 1822-1860 from a microfilm collection. This large collection of more than 42,000 pages of correspondence over nearly 40 years has been challenging to research. Volunteer work to index these letters from microfilm has been valuable to people researching Queensland history and family histories. The digitised collection includes transcripts generated by handwritten text recognition (HTR) software, but there are limitations to software transcription of handwritten text. State Library invites volunteers to improve the accuracy of transcripts from this collection.

Users are advised that Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander material in this collection may contain culturally sensitive content which may not normally be used in certain public or community contexts. Annotation and terminology which reflects the creator's attitude or that of the era in which the item was created may be considered inappropriate today. This material may also contain names of deceased persons.
