The amount of Gratuity authorized by Mr. Walcott's [added above] (letter) to be paid to Mrs Boyes, should her
duties have been performed to the satisfaction of this Gov't is £2, not £5 as stated in
in [sic] this Memorial.

According to a Memo recorded in my office I verbally informed Mrs Boyes that the
ship was dirty on arrival and that irregularities had occurred, and until the
Board were satisfied by a formal enquiry about to be instituted as to the manner
in which the duties were performed on board this ship no gratuities will be paid -

The enquiry has been instituted and Mrs. Boyes has given her evidence, which is not satisfactory.

The opinion of the Board as to the allowance of Mrs. Boyes' gratuity will be stated for
His Excellency's information in their Report which is now under consideration. ... Ret'd
