[right margin]35
months back begging him
to point out to me what
portion of his corps had
been detailed off for this
particular service but I
was not favoured with a
reply to my letter.
I would urge therefore upon
His Excellency the desireableness
of carrying with effect with as
little delay as possible the in-
tention of the Government in
this matter and I feel compelled
to add that I think it would
conduce greatly to the benefit
of the Public service were the
parties of the Native Police
stationed in any District
in aid of the law directed
to report their arrival and
departure to the constituted
authorities - either to the
Bench of Magistrates or
the Commissioner of Crown
Land as the Governor Genl.
may think fit to order.-
On the last occasion I could
only hear of their arrival in
this District from common
rumour
[marginalia]which may further
his discretion as to
the stationing or moving
the Native Police force
& to place the force
in any way under
the authority of the
Commdt. of C Lands
in local Branches.
