for want of sufficient evidence
on oath -he however himself
told me that he had stolen
some flour from a Chinaman.
The proper way to deal with
such lads, would be give them
a good horsewhipping and
dismiss them -One black
called Lippy accused on oath
of a violent assault and robbing
two Chinamen, was killed by
the Police in an attempt made
by him to escape in the dark.
Mr. Marshall will hold the
