The Police Magistrate at Moreton Bay to the Hon'ble the Colonial Secretary - applying for certain portions of land to be bought forward for Sale ........

Sir,

Application having been made to me by parties who are desirous to purchase the undermentioned Portions of land, - I do myself the honor to request that they be included in the next sale to take place in this district -

viz:

Lot 30 of the sale 23 Aug/'48, being Suburban allotment, Portion No. 9A, Parish of Ipswich, forfeited by Mr. J. Kent, - now applied for by Mr. R.V. Douglas ...........

Town allotments 1 & 5 of Section 12 in the Town of Brisbane, North, the former applied for by John Harris & the latter by Jas. Gibbon -

(2) ... I have also the honor to inform you that, an application has been made to me on the part the "Sugar growing Company" for Surburban Allotments 1 to 7 inclusive, in the Parish of Yeerongpilly, which were offered for sale on the 22nd March 1848; and I have been requested to state that it is very desirable that these allotments be brought forward for sale as soon as possible, in order that the ground may be prepared for the reception of the Canes, before the season is too far advanced. ----

(3) ... I have likewise been requested, by the same party [added above] (to apply) for more of these allotments

to be laid out; in continuation upwards, along the South bank of the River; that land being considered the most favorable for the operations of the Company.

(4) ... These allotments are at so great a distance from Brisbane that, I think it desirable they should be considered Country Lots, in order that they may be open to selection, after having been once offered for Sale, - as I have no doubt they will be sought after as soon as the Company's operations commence.

(5) ... I would beg leave to suggest that, in future notices in the Gov't Gazette, of the sale of Town allotments, in Brisbane, a distinction be made between

those in the Parishes of North, & South Brisbane, - this distinction is made in the description of the allotments which the Purchasers sign on the day of Sale, but not in the Notice published in the Gazette, and therefore gave rise to the letter which was addressed to you a few months back, by the inhabitants of South Brisbane, complaining that no Town allotments, in their Parish, were brought forward for sale -

6. ... In order to facilitate the operations of the"Sugar growing Company," I would beg to suggest that the lands applied for be brought forward as soon as possible; & that these allotments named in my letter of the 7th ult'o No. 49/35 be included. ---

I. ... Suburban allotment portion 9A, Parish of Ipswich, forfeited by Mr Jno. Kent and now applied for by Mr. Robert Douglas, and Suburban allotments from 1 to 7 inclusively in the Parish of Yerrongpilly [sic], offered for sale on the 22nd March 1848, - and now applied for by the Sugar growing Company will be introduced for proclaimation for sale in my next schedule.

2. ... Instructions have been given for the measurement of allotments 1 and 5 of Section No. 12 in Brisbane applied for by Jno. Harris, and James Gibbon respectively, - and also for the measurement of allotments in extension, in the Parish of Yarrongpilly [sic], applied for by the Sugar Growing Company, and when the surveys reach this office, the lands will be introduced into Schedule for proclamation for Sale.
