Application by the Rev'd John Wallace Clergyman of the Church of England for permission to reside for a short period in the Government Cottage at North Brisbane which is at present unoccupied. ---

(1) ... I have the honor to inform you that I have been appointed by the Lord Bishop of Newcastle to assist the Rev'd B. Glennie in the care of this district ---
(2) ... I have also to mention that after making diligent enquiry I find it impossible to rent any house before the 1st of November next, or to obtain any lodging other than at a public house ---

I have further to mention that ... (3)
the Government Cottage in this place (formerly used by the Police Magistrate for offices) is now entirely unoccupied and in charge of a constable to protect it from infamy and
I beg under these circumstances ... (4)
to crave permission of His Excellency to remove into it with my family, and to reside there for a period not exceeding three months either with or without rent as His Excellency shall see fit
I have the honor to forward ... (5)
this application through the medium of the Police Magistrate in order that he may report upon it as to him shall seem fit
