Sir I am directed by the Colonial Land & Emigration Commissioners to transmit to you herewith some copies of the Queen's Order in Council prescribing Rules for preserving Order and securing cleanliness and ventilation on board Passenger Ships proceeding from the United Kingdom to any of the British Colonies

These copies have been printed as you will perceive by the Queens Printer in order that they may be received throughout

Copy one for the purpose. In case of need one of the originals can be obtained for production in any legal proceedings that may become necessary [inits; ill.]

Her Majesty's Dominions as sufficient evidence in all legal proceeding of the making and contents of such Order in Council in Conformity with the provisions of the 39th. Sec: of the Passengers Act 1849. 12 and 13 - Vic: - Cap: 33

I am at the same time to draw your attention to the 40th Sec: of the Act which imposes a penalty not exceeding £2 Stirling and imprisonment not exceeding 1 Month upon any person on board a passenger Ship who shall neglect or refuse to obey any of the Rules laid down in such Order in Council, or who shall obstruct the Medical Practitioner or Master of the Vessel in the execution of any duty imposed on him by any such

Rule.

I am also to enclose for your information a copy of the revised instruction which the Commissioners propose now to issue to the Surgeon Superintendant of their Emigrant ships which contains some modification of those hitherto in use.
