No. 50/16 Police office, Brisbane 26 March 1850

Sir, I do myself the honor to return the enclosed Petition, from the Convict named in the Margin, praying for a remission of his sentence; and I beg to inform you that in compliance with the marginal note thereon, it has been laid before the committing Magistrates who are of the opinion that the severity of the sentence was fully called for; although they have now

[?...] this Report & after a perusal of the accompanying depositions I see no reason for remitting any portion of this Petitioners Sentence 2d. Ch FR.

no wish whatever to stand in the may of the Prisoner's receiving such remission, as His Excellency the Governor may feel disposed to grant.

(2) As the Prisoner's statement is calculated to misguide His Excellency, in as much as the extent of his crime is not stated, neither does it shew that two distinct charges were laid against him; the Bench have deemed it advisable to forward a copy of the Depositions in order that His Excellency maybe the better able
