Police office, Brisbane July 17. 1848
Sir I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 10th. instant, enclosing an application from the Lord Bishop of Newcastle, for certain portions of land at Brisbane, for sites of Church, School & Parsonage, and requesting me to report on that required for a Parsonage, in consequence of His Lordship having stated that, it is in the possession of the ordnance Department.

in question, is occupied by the building which has hitherto been used as a quarter for the Commissariat officer, and is adjoining to that applied for as sites for Church, and School -
I am not aware whether it is likely that this building will be again required for Ordnance purposes, - but if not, I cannot see any objection to its being sold with the land on which it stands, and if purchased by the Church Trustees, the upset price of the land might be refunded by the Colonial Government; which would be equivalent to a grant of the ground for the purpose named
