I have the honor by the return of the Governor Phillip from Moreton Bay, to acknowledge your Letters as per Margin.

- In accordance with paragraph 10 of my Letter No. 19/31 - 15'th August last - relative to Maize being purchased at this Station, I beg to acquaint you that no offer was made to the Tender invited -

to acquaint you for the information of His Excellency, that no proposition to either of the said Queries has been received.

3 ..... In reference to your Letter No. 31/29 August 25th I have the honor to inform you that the Commissariat Officer invited Tenders for the Supply of Beef and Mutton at this Station from 1st September to the 31st December which has been contracted for the Beef at Three pence and the Mutton at Three pence halfpenny per pound.

4 ..... I beg to remark that this Settlement has been badly supplied with Blankets many of the Prisoners are without and none in Store for some Months past.

I now forward them in the Governor Phillip to Sydney, the three latter have run from Moreton Bay and been brought up at this Station at former periods. [close of square bracket] ]

8 ..... I beg to acquaint you that the Prisoner named on the Margin was in December 1828 with other Cripples received at this Station subsequent to which his knowledge in the Manufacturing of Tobacco induced Major Innes to apply for him, his bad Conduct has however obliged his Master to bring him to Justice and to decline receiving him back - - The latter paragraph of your Letter No. 31/18 June 18th 1831 directs "that Settlers who wish to return their Servants at Port Macquarie must retain them until an opportunity offers to forward them to Sydney, at their own expense."

I presume however on this Case it is not the intention of His Excellency it should be carried in effect the

individual being one of those Cripples sent from Sydney as troublesome characters - I have therefore received him into Barracks.

I beg the favor of your information as to whether it is intended that Prisoners found Guilty of offences at this Station and Convicted, may be in consequence rejected by the Settler and to be received by me.

In Cases of Assigned Servants becoming infirm and totally incapable of performing the duties required of them and as objects of the Class requiring an Assylum [sic] I beg to know whether they may (on the Certificate of the Surgeon to that effect) be received by me or to be retained by the Settler in obedience to the paragraph above alluded to.
