My Angel Darling,
Oh what a
rel[ei]f to have the war in
Europe virtually over. The
long years of bitterness & sep-
aration are drawing fast to
an end. I'm too far removed
from Europe to run amuck with
joy at the good news. I feel
more like saving my dation
til Japan caves in. Even then
unless I'm moved by some
mass hysteria I'll be more
relieved than anyway else.
I bel[ei]ved I'll be restless + mad.
Justed for many months
after the army turns me
loose. You have a problem
child on your hands honey
dear. But I love you so much
& want you to be so terribly
happy that I'll try hard to
fit into our new life 'so help
me God.'
