Nancy darling three telegrams & a letter came today so what I've aleady written will be a poor indication of my happiness. They brought very meagre news of you but now I'm satisfied to wait for the rest of my mail to turn up.

How it hurts to have to disillusion you regarding my transfer. Oh my darling, forgive me for writing ambiguously. You see in our organisation we have a Divisional set up. I'm B.H.Q., the *???DADNL's* is Bde HQ, & the G.D.C's is Div HQ. From Lae I transferred to Moresby, although my address is Dobodura. I admit I may have sounded elated - I had reason to. There, I expect civil administration to be reinstated & that will give me my opportunity to return home. Also being a base area I'm not so indispensible, & stand a better chance of being transferred on compassionate grounds.

Darling I have good reason to believe
