My Own Darling Husband
It is Sunday night, & a miserable one at that. It has been raining off & on all day, although it is not raining at present, it is bleak.
Olive was married yesterday afternoon at Cleveland. May & I went down. She had a terrible day, it rained all day & at 4:30 pm, just poured. The little church was crowded just the same & Olive looked lovely. She was so excited when she arrived at the church she walked in without her father. I thought of you all through the ceremony & I had to blink my eyes to check back the tears, I wish you could have gone with me. The reception was held down at the Kiosk at Cleveland, there were about 60 guests. Olive was in a trance, she didn't know whether she was coming or going, she seemed very happy. Joy Apps, Ralphs fiancee, was a guest, do you know her?
Alan I received my ring on Friday, I was thrilled, you are a darling, you had it wrapped so nicely. Alan I don't know how I could have ever parted with it, I must have been in a trance to give it to Ailsa. I am sure it was fate I lost my other rings, it feels [really?] marvelous to have my wedding ring on my finger again, I can't keep my eyes off my ring it looks lovely Alan. It doesn't look bare without an engagement ring, it is too pretty, everyone has admired it. I put it on my finger as soon as I got it & it is there till I die. You told me to wear it always while I loved you, I do love you Alan, deeply, I wouldn't take it off for a living soul. I dreamt I took it off last night just to have a look at the 18ct. sign, & realizing what I had done was horrified. It was so realistic & have been thinking about it all day. It looks really lovely & I am proud of it. I told Olive about loosing my rings & how you were sending my wedding ring down, so I showed it to her yesterday. Imagine my surprise when I found hers was the same. It is a little large for me now, if anything, but it won't slip over my knuckles. You will love it when you see it on my fingers my darling.
