I'm lonely. I almost pine to be up there where my chaps are. There's drama and spontaneous companionship instead of the red-tape and acquaintances around
DHQ. I feel too, like a sailor without a ship not having my countless pageant of natives. Never will I forget Christmas Eve. All morning the line worked with every reserve of
energy bringing turkey, Xmas parcels & comforts to our forward line. Again in the afternoon they threw themselves into the exhausting task of slithering precariously
down the mountain side, some burdened with sick & wounded, the more fortunate going empty handed, Down, endlessly down, till knees tremble weakeningly to the jeephead, & A.D.S. The hubbub of voices interspersed with war cries concentrate. With their emanators & overflow the jungle clearing. Loads are shouldered with mock frenzy
