This page was incomplete; I finished it. Lots of side notes on this page that were not entered. Reviewer should note the following: 1) The words "Rattle Snake" are entered in two Remarks areas. This refers to the Rattlesnake Coal mine in Tracy City where convicts were sent.
2) Line 11 county space is entered "James". There was a James County in Tennessee from 1871 to 1919. The county went bankrupt in 1919 and the area was given to Hamilton County.
This is fantastic! Thank you for completing this! These are excellent observations. I completely agree about the Rattlesnake Mine — the opening to the Rattlesnake mine wasn’t far from the Lone Rock Mine. And good to know about James County, too. Thanks for you help!
Note that Convict #10 has been crossed out. It would appear he escaped and wasn't received at this location, and there is a cryptic note to the very left of his entry that may say something along the lines of "See Dan Fender," though this is not clear.
A note above Convict #18 (John Barber) says Coal Creek, and in the box to the left of his name appears to be a date - perhaps "Nov 1st"?
To add to Bernie's notes, in many boxes to the left of the convict names there is a notation "R S" - wondering if these convicts might have also been transferred or leased there as well?
It took me a bit thinking, but I bet "R.S" refers to the Rattlesnake Mine. The Rattlesnake Mine was also owned by Tennessee Coal and Iron and it was located in the same valley as the Lone Rock Mine. I noticed that there is at least one person who has "Battle Creek" written to the left of their name, and Battle Creek was another mine in the area. So it looks like those little notations refer to what mines people were assigned to. Fantastic discovery!
