The ivy planted by the first column on the left of the porch of the lodge came from the chapel of West Point. The "Charles" referred to in this letter is Mr. Charles J.F. Manly of Greenville who has done much for this lodge. He planned and through the courtesy of his firm, the J.A. Piper Roofing Co., put under [the word blue blocked out] glass the many rocks and souvenirs which are thus protected in our building.

MEMORANDUM
Dear Charles: -
Thanks for these pictures. I noticed the stone from West Point in one. I will send [Japanese] wig from the old chapel in which Gen. Winfield Scott, Gen. Robt. E. Lee, Pershing and others have worshiped (Lee [and scott is crossed out] as Supt. It was built after he graduated. Scott was C in C of army, & [lif scratched out] and lived here after retirement) I can have the ivy shipped right away , if it is a suitable time for you to plant. I will send a picture of the old chapel along with the others . Hope Basil is better. Thanks for taking mother to Dr. Jervey Excuse haste. Love to all Floyd.
