NEWS ABOUT THE FOLKS WHO KEEP THE TRAINS ROLLING

GENERAL OFFICES

General Freight Agent Floyd E. Wil-
liams is back on the job after having
been out due to illness for several
weeks. Mr. Williams was hospitalized
at Charlotte's Presbyterian Hospital for
about 10 days and spent another
week recuperating at home. He reports
that he feels very much better now.

Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Powell celebrat-
ed their eleventh wedding anniveersary
on April 25. Mr. Powell is a clerk in
the executive offices.

Mr. and Mrs. Ned B. Teague are the
proud parents of a son, Michael Alan,
born on May 2 at Charlotte Memorial
Hospital. Ned is Rate Clerk.

Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Welch visited their
son, J. T. Welch, Jr., and Mrs. Welch,
in Charleston, S. C. during the middle
of April and enjoyed touring the gard-
ends and homes there.

James H. Pruette's father, W. M.
Pruette, has returned to his hime fol-
lowing an operation at Charlotte Me-
morial Hospital recently.

Mildred Cushman and Gertrude Hill
enjoyed a vacation the middle of April
in New Orleans. While there they took
a trip to Baton Rouge and returned by
motor via Gulfport and Meridian,
Miss., and Atlanta, where they stopped
overnight with Mrs. Hill's sister, Mrs.
Collier T. Black, and Mr. Black.

Mrs. Henry T. Worley, wife of Re-
tired Engineer H. T. Worley died at
her home in Charlotte where she had
lived for the past 25 years. She was
born in Lincolnton, N. C. She is sur-
vived by her husband, two daughters,
a son, two sisters, and four brothers.

Mr. and Mrs. William J. Black, above,
are leaving Providence Presbyterian
Church after their marriage on April
5. Mrs. Black is the former Miss Dor-
othy Caldwell, clerk in the office of
AGFA D. V. Shippey.

Lawrence B. Helms, Jr., freight traf-
fic agent in Charlotte, is demonstrating
his athletic prowess as a member of
the Junior Chamber of Commerce soft
ball team.

Yard Clerk Bill Ballard of Gastonia
spent a week of his vacation in April
by resting at home.

Agent J. L. Lail of Gastonia was a
delegate to the Gastonia District Meth-
odist Conference in Lawndale, N. C.,
on April 14.
