RAILROADERS AT WORK . . .

Conducting a freight train is no tea party.
To do the job right takes years of experience,
a thorough knowledge of railroading, an in-
finite amount of patience, and more horse
sense than horses seem to have.

Durham & Southern Conductor C. A. May-
nard -- better known as "Cat" -- has all of these
qualificiations and more. During the nearly
30 years that he has been delivering the
goods for the D & S he has contributed sub-
stantially to the railroad's reputation for un-
excelled freight service.

Men like Conductor Maynard make "SERV-
ICE WITH COURTESY" more than just a slo-
gan--it is our philosophy of doing business.
