P & N (S. C. DIVISION)

Rebecca Jane Hairston, above, is the
13-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
C. B. Hariston
of Greenwood, S. C. Her
father is a brakeman on the S. C. Di-
vision.

Mrs. R. L. Hamilton, mother-in-law
of Wallace Chandler, died in Green-
wood on February 14 after a brief ill-
ness. Chandler is a Conductor on the
P & N and his father-in-law, R. L.
Hamilton, is a section foreman for the
Seaboard at Greenville.

Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Hamilton have
announced the birth of their third son,
Clifton Douglas, born at the Self Me-
Memorial Hospital in Greenwood on Feb-
ruary 15. Mrs. Hamilton is the former
Miss Sarah Hulsey, daughter of P & N
Section Foreman W. C. Hulsey.

Agent and Mrs. Malcolm Jones of
Anderson are constructing an attrac-
tive addition to their home in Belton.

Joseph M. Moore, 70, of Belton died
several weeks ago after a short illness.
He was an employee of Belton Mills
for 44 years until his retirement in
1946. Mr. Moore was the father-in-law
of Conductor D. M. Campbell of the
S. C. Division.

P & N (N. C. DIVISION)

Engineer J. K. Biggerstaff is being
congratulated by his friends on becom-
ing a grandfather recently.

Bill Black, who is engaged to Miss
Dot Caldwell
, clerk in the Charlotte
traffic office, has returned to the
United States after service in Korea.
The young couple plans to be married
soon.

Clerk R. E. Goodman and Mrs. Good-
man of the Charlotte agency spent a
week-end in Charleston last month
visiting the gardens and other points
of interest.

GENERAL OFFICES

F. E. Furr, clerk in the traffic de-
partment, was married on February 7
to Miss Betty Jean Poplin of Gastonia.
The wedding took place at the Trinity
Lutheran Church in Gastonia. Mr. and
Mrs. Furr are making their home in
the Morningside Apartments. Mrs. Furr
is an employee of the Wachovia Bank
& Trust Co.

Mrs. Thomas Wesley Buchanan, 83,
grandmother of Willie Mae Wilson and
Ruth Greene Ballard of the accounting
