NEWS ABOUT THE FOLKS WHO KEEP THE TRAINS ROLLING

GENERAL OFFICES

Traveling Auditor M. M. Morrison
spent a few days recently visiting his
sister, Mrs. Ruth Belk, and Mr. Belk
at their home at Myrtle Beach, S. C.

Mary Helen Wilson and her husband,
Carl, visited relatives and friends in Cor-
nelia and Atlanta, Ga., during the
Thanksgiving holidays.

James Pruette enjoyed several days of
vacation last month.

Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Jester of Wash-
ington, D. C., spent several days last
month visiting Mrs. Jester's father, C.
N. Sherrill
of the accounting department.
Mr. Sherrill has the distinction of being
the oldest P & N employee in point of
service.

John T. Welch of the accounting de-
partment was injured slightly in an au-
tomobile accident early this month. Mr.
Welch was en route to his home in Mt.
Holly when the accident occurred. He
had several stitches taken in a cut on his
forehead. Less than a week later Mr.
Welch suffered a second accident when
he stepped from a bus on a Charlotte
street. He was struck and badly injured
by an automobile. His latest accident
has confined him to Memorial Hospital
in Charlotte with multiple fractures.
However, he is reported to be getting
along nicely.

Mrs. Ann Beal Sanders, formerly on
the staff of the N. C. Department of
Archives & History in Raleigh, has
joined the railroad in the Executive De-
partment as a successor to Charles W.
Austin who left the service of the rail-
road last month. Mrs. Sanders' home
is in Richmond and she received her ed-
ucation at Meredith College and the Uni-
versity of North Carolina. Her duties
will invole work with the magazine and
public relations.

Pictured above are the granddaugh-
ters of Engineer and Mrs. J. K. Bigger-
staff
. The little girls are Gail Elaine
Gathings, 18 months, and Debra Lynn
Haywood, six months. Needless to say,
they have a very proud grandfather.

Mrs. J. C. Albea Sr. was recently con-
fined to Memorial Hospital in Charlotte
where she was recuperating from an op-
eration. She is the mother of Yard Clerk
John Albea
, Cedar Street yard, Char-
lotte.

Mrs. and Mrs. Berkley Hardin spent
several days recently at the Isle of
Palms near Charleston, S. C., on a fish-
ing trip.

Conductor Larry Gantt is recuperating
at home after an extended stay in Char-
lotte's Presbyterian Hospital. He hopes
to be able to return to work after the
first of the year.

S. C. DIVISION
Electrician and Mrs. E. L. Crenshaw
spent a few days visiting friends and
relatives in Georgia last month.
