7 Near Hickory Tavern - Sep 6, 1917 Mrs. Melvina Terry being duly sworn says that as clock was striking four on the afternoon of Sep 5, she heard one pistol shot, and in about a minute she heard another pistol shot Melvina Terry (her X mark)
W.H. Terry being duly sworn says; That he had instructions from Mr. J.M. Hellams with whom he lives and cultivates a farm, to look after straightning some corn. That as he returned from same between 3 or 4 oclock comming in direction of Mr. Hellams house and on the way to his house he heard a pistol shot. the shot being in the direction of Mr. Hellams home. Mr. Terry further says that as he approached the house of Mr. Hellams by a path that leads from this work by Mr. Hellams house and by lot on to his house he observed the back door open, the door by the chimney shut. the Front door shut and all windows he could see were shut except one on front piazza. Mrs. W.H. Terry recalled says the shots she heard were in direction of Mr. Hellams house.
Mrs. Maude Terry being duly sworn says, that she lives on Mr. Hellams place that she heard two pistol shots between 3 and 4 oclock on afternoon of Sep 5 a minute or so apart. she could not say what direction the shots were. She further says that she and her mother in law, Mrs. W.H. Terry, came to milk on that afternoon as usual and that she saw nothing of Mr. and Mrs.

5 (State of South Carolina) Laurens County I found Press Bolt lying on porch at Mrs Nannie Bolts farm near the Knob Church on the morning of the 24 Aug 1917. I find no marks of violence on his person and believe that he came to his death suddenly from natural cause He is appearantly about 70 years old. 8 Hellams, that they came to milk this morning, Sep 6 and still saw nothing of them. And observed the cows of Mr. Hellams unmilked. And found nothing attended to and felt something unusual was the matter with them or that they were not at home. She then summoned Mr. Glenn Abercrombie and he came and looked around the house and requested that others be sent for to make investigation. Mrs Maude Terry.
John W. Butler being duly sworn says, that on morning of Sep 6, he had noticed that somehting was unusual about surroundings of Mr. and Mrs. Millam Hellams. As they had not been seen since afternoon of day before that he came and went around house with some others. Found front door shut, door next chimney shut, back door open, But door between back room and Front room closed. As the end door on east side of house was open and door leading from this room to room in big part of house was also open that he could see as he thought through these two open doors what he thought the arm and foot of a person on the floor of big room. That by going upon this piazza and getting in door he could further see this to be the arm and foot of Mrs. Millam Hellams and could further see the body of Mr. Hellams. Both on the floor. That he then went back in yard and went to Front door which has already been testified was shut. He turned lock of the same and opened door and futher found Mr and mrs Hellams on floor dead with a pistol on floor under Mr. Hellams right

Thomas W. Knight being duly sworn says; corroborates testimony and findings of bodies of Mr. Millam Hellams and Mrs. Kate Hellams as made by Mr. Butler Thos. W. Knight.
Jas. E. Roper being duly sworn says; Being summonded to home of Mr. Millam Hellams he found on entering room Mr. Milliam Hellams dead also Mrs. Kate Hellams dead. pistol under Mr. Hellams near pocket with handle of same out. J.E. Roper
On September 6, 1917 about noon I was called to examine the dead bodies of Mr. and Mrs. Millam Hellams. I found a gun shot wound entering Mr. Hellams head about 2 inches above the right eye which was sufficient to cause death. I also found gun shot wound entering Mrs. Hellams head 2 inches above the right ear passing through the head making its exit about 2 inches above the left ear. causing her Death. J.W. Beason M.D.

10 State of South Carolina. Laurens County. An inquisition indented, taken at Laurens S.C. in Laurens County the 10th day of October A.D. 1917 before R.R. Owings coroner for said county, upon view of the dead body of Mrs. H.C. Rohn then and there being dead by the oaths of _ being a lawful jury of inquest, who being charged and sworn to inquire for the State of South Carolina, where and what means the said Mrs. H.C. Rohn came to her death, by unavoidable accident by automobile driven by R.T. Wright. And so the jurors aforesaid upon their oaths aforesaid_____. In witness where of I, R.R. 17 State of South Carolina Laurens County An inquisition taken at J.B.Speaks Place in Laurens County the 22 day November AD 1917 before R R Ouings Coroner for said County upon view of the dedd body of Annie May Neuman of Laurens County then and there being dead by the oaths of J.B.Speaks W.E.Blalock T.J Johnson T.T.Henderson H.B Henderson C V Monroe being a lawful jury of inquest who being charged and sworn to inquire for the States of Soth Carolina where and by what means the said Annie May Neuman cam to her deathe upon thier oaths do say Annie May Neuman came to her death fron natural causes. And so the Jurors aforesaid, upon their oaths aforesaid, do say that the aforesaid Annie May Neuman in manner and form aforesaid did com to her death from natural causes. I witness whereof I R.R. Owings, Coroner of said county, upon view of the dead body of D.D. Stoddard, of Owings R.F.D. #1 then and there being dead by the oath of Dr. H. L. Shaw, and D.C. Bennett and others. J.L Gray, G.W. Being a lawful jury of inquest, Who, being charged and sworn to inquire, for the State of South Carolina, where and by what means the said D.D. Stoddard came to his death, upon their oaths do say That D.D. Stoddard came to his death by gun shot wounds at the hands of W.R. Burdette and so the jurors aforesaid, upon their aforesaid, do say that the aforesaid D.D. Stoddard came to his death. In manner and from aforesaid that the said W.R. Burdette then and there feloniously did kill, against the peace and dignity of the state aforesaid. In witness where of & R.R. He was so close when he shot the powder burned the apron Lillie was wearing. After Lillilie had fallen Charlie aimed his gun at her and attempted to shoot her the second time. Lillie and her brother lived together in the house. Charlie White did not take his meals at Lillies house. This all happened in Laurens County. Calvin Johnson.
This is to Certify that Lillie Cromer came to her death by pistol wound of abdomen. June 7. 1917. Thomas H. Pope M.D.
