Witness inquest Alf Fair

J D Mills being sworn says i[o]n jan 7th
1907 I was called by Arthur Copelands wife
I got up and went out to the house where
the Noise was when I got there I found
Arthur Copeland standing in the yard he
Told me there was some Negros in his
house I went to the door and asked who
was in there Alf Fair Said he was in
there & Lawrence Fuller said he was in
there Alf Fair said he wanted to have
a word with me I Told him To come
out before he came out I Told arthr
Copeland to get away from the door
as I wanted Alf Fair To Say what he wanted
To me he walked around his house I Told
Alf Fair he had better leave as he was
caught he said he wanted to see Copeland
I told him he had better leave before he
got in a fuss he said when he s[aw] Copela
he would he walked back to the door I
got in the door Alf Fair said Cope if you
said I was in bed wtih your wife its a lie
by that time they both made for one anothe
There was some licks passed Copeland fell
back about 10 feet from me Next thing I
head a gun feer I could not tell
which one that it was dark one of them
grunted & both ran I heard one fall I
went to them & Alf Fair said he was shot

say I was at Mr. Mills Jan 7th 1907 Arthur Copeland
came in cursing I got me a chain[?] on the dam
leg the [illegible] head Something hit the house
Shortly after heard the shooting I never head
but one Shot
